About SUDUNGU

Lauren began woodworking in high school where he constantly got into trouble for playing on the lathe instead of working on his other assigned projects in his vocational woodworking class. Twenty-five years ago, he started wood carving and rekindled his love for lathe work. He enjoys many methods of embellishing his turnings, including pyrography, piercing, air brushing, and carving.

As a member of the Utah Association of Woodturners and the American Association of Woodturners, Lauren is a long-time volunteer at the Utah Woodturning Symposium held every May at UVU, most recently serving as Instant Gallery Director. He has a hobby business named SUDWNGU, an acronym for his life philosophy of Show Up, Don’t Whine, Never Give Up. Lauren looks forward to the day when he will be able to do woodworking full time.
